Most modern providers provide their subscribers with an IPTV service, which can be used either with a special set-top box or with the help of special software installed on a personal computer.

Usage Tips

Basically, IPTV is installed using a router that distributes the network. The entire configuration procedure in this case consists only in activating the Enable Multicasting routing option. After starting this option, the user's router will not filter multicast traffic, but will redirect this traffic to the LAN interfaces and to the internal subnet only if necessary.

In addition, after starting such a setting, the user will still need to download and install a special player. It contains a playlist with IPTV channels. It should be noted that when using a router, various kinds of interference, image distortion, etc. may occur. In order to get the best picture and sound quality, you need to use a LAN cable.

Of course, if the user does not want to disassemble the wires, then you can use a special function that will improve the quality of signal reception. This option is called Multicast Rate. The whole point is that this option limits the amount of traffic that is sent directly to the Wi-Fi interface. In the router settings, in the Multicast Rate field, the user must set the value 36, after which the picture quality should change significantly.

Setting up a router and player for IPTV

To configure the router for IPTV, the user must launch the router's web interface. You should open any convenient browser and enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, depending on the brand and model of the router. Next, you need to go to "Advanced Settings", where the "Wireless Network" tab is located. A special "Professional" window will be displayed here, which must be launched.

In the field "Multicast data transfer rate" you need to set the value to 24 Mbps. Then you need to go back to "Advanced settings" and open the "LAN" tab. Under the IPTV proxy port item, you need to enter 2021, and in the "enable multicast routing" field, you need to check the box or confirm this action. This completes the router setup and you can go directly to the IPTV player setup.

After the player is downloaded and installed, you need to go to the "General" tab and set the address 192.168.1.1.2021 or 192.168.0.1.2021 in the "Network interface" field, depending on the address at which the router's web interface was opened … After that, you can start watching IPTV.
