When connected to the Internet, a computer is assigned a unique network identifier - an IP address. Knowing the ip of a network resource, you can collect certain information about it. In particular, determine the provider, find out the location or find out the domain name - in the case when it comes to the site.
Instructions
Step 1
To find out the domain name of the resource by the ip-address, use one of the specialized network services. For example, this: https://url-sub.ru/tools/web/iphost/ Enter the ip you are interested in in the field, click the "Find out" button. In the field that opens, you will see the domain name you need.
Step 2
If you need to perform the reverse procedure, that is, find out the ip-address of the domain, this can be done in two ways. First, take advantage of network services. For example, the resource already mentioned above: https://url-sub.ru/tools/web/hostip/ Enter the domain name in the field, click "Find out". You will see the ip-address of the given domain.
Step 3
You can determine the ip address of the resource you are interested in using the ping command. For example, you want to determine the address of the Yandex service: https://www.yandex.ru/ Open the command line: "Start" - "All programs" - "Standard" - "Command line". Type: ping www.yandex.ru and press Enter. The exchange of packages with the site will begin, already in the first line you will see the ip-address of the resource: 87.250.250.203.
Step 4
If you need to find out where the computer you are interested in is physically located, use Geo IP services. For example, this: https://www.ip-ping.ru/ipinfo/ Try to enter the above Yandex ip-address in the search field and evaluate the information received. You will see not only the location of the server, but also all the related information.
Step 5
Sometimes you may need to find out which network addresses your computer is connected to. To do this, you can take advantage of the capabilities of the Windows operating system. Open Command Prompt again, type netstat –aon. Hit Enter. You will see a list of existing connections.
Step 6
In the column "Local address" you can see the addresses and ports of your computer through which the connection is made. The column "External address" shows the address of the remote computer and the number of the used port. Using the services mentioned above, you can determine the location of this computer and the provider through which the connection is made.
