When each user logs on to the network, the Internet provider gives his connection a unique identifier - an IP address. For each provider, the organization that registers it allocates such addresses in blocks, and information about which of the providers belongs to this or that range of IP addresses is available on the Internet through a special protocol WHOIS.
Instructions
Step 1
The same database contains other data about the Internet provider, including its geographic location. Thanks to this organization of accounting for Internet connections, it becomes possible to determine the geographic location by IP address.
Step 2
Use any web service to geo-locate an Internet connection that has an IP address of interest. There are a lot of them on the Internet, since it is not difficult to build scripts that make WHOIS queries to a distributed database of registrar companies based on the information entered by the user. Such a script can even be placed on your own computer. Many companies distribute prepared databases that contain information that makes WHOIS queries unnecessary - in this case, the geographical location of an IP connection can be determined even without an Internet connection.
Step 3
Having chosen the most suitable web service, go to its page and enter in the appropriate field of the form the IP address, the geographical origin of which you are interested in. For example, on the page https://seogadget.ru/location it must be typed in the field placed next to the inscription "Enter ip / domain". By default, this field contains your own IP address, extracted by the service scripts from the page request sent by your browser to the site server. If you wish, you can make sure that the service is able to correctly determine the geographic location by sending your own IP address to the server first - to do this, simply click the button labeled “Let's go!”. After processing your request, the page will display a map with the settlement calculated by the service and indicating its name and country.
