Step 1

Install the SMTP service. This requires that you have administrative access rights. In the "Start" menu, click on the "Administrative Tools" item and select the "Server Manager" tab. In this tab, click the "Components" item and in the "Component Summary" section, click the "Add Components" button.

Step 2

On the components page, select an SMTP server. In the "Add Components Wizard" window, click on "Add required components" and follow "Next". On the page where you need to confirm the selected item, click on "Install". Close all windows after installation is complete.

Step 3

Install the IIS 6.0 Management Tools. Also, through the "Administration" item in the "Server Manager" tab, click on "Roles" and select "Add Role Services" there. Here you will need to select "Management Tools" and "IIS 6.0 Management Compatibility". Click on "Install". After completing all of the above, you will have one configured domain that will send letters.

Step 4

Add another domain. In the "Administration" item, you need to select the "IIS 6.0 Manager" tab and then, in the context menu of the "Domains" item, click the "New" button, then "Domain". In the New SMTP Domain Wizard window, under Remote, click Next and enter the full domain name of the SMTP server. If the server is Microsoft Exchange, the domain name will be microsoft.com.

Step 5

Configure the added remote domain. To do this, in the properties of this domain, check the box "Allow relaying of incoming mail to this domain." The routing setting must match the domain. If the MX record of mail services is used, then let the "Use DNS for routing to this domain" option remain selected, otherwise, click on the "Forward all mail to an intermediate domain" item.

Step 6

Configure the authorization settings on the target SMTP server. In the properties of the remote domain, select "Outbound Security" and click the required authorization type.

Configure outgoing SharePoint email settings. In Central Administration, select the SharePoint server.

Step 8

For security, configure the settings for accessing the SMTP server on SharePoint. In the context menu of the SMTP server instance, click Properties. Then select the Connect button on the Access tab. Use the "Add" button in the "Only computers from the list below" item to specify the SharePoint server itself so that you can send outgoing messages.
