In most cases, it is not enough just to create your own local network. It still needs to be protected from intruders. This is especially important for wireless Wi-Fi networks.
Necessary
Wi-Fi router (router)
Instructions
Step 1
Let's first learn how to create your own home wireless LANs. For this purpose, you need a Wi-Fi router. The choice of this equipment must be approached very responsibly. You need to find out the types of radio signals that wireless adapters on notebook computers work with and the types of security.
Step 2
Purchase a Wi-Fi router with suitable specifications. Connect computers to it using network cables. For this, the device has LAN (Ethernet) ports.
Step 3
Plug the Internet connection cable into the Internet (WAN) port of the router. Turn on one of the computers or laptops that are cabled to the device. Open a browser and enter the router's IP into its address bar.
Step 4
It is recommended to update the software version before starting the hardware setup. Download the latest firmware from the official website of your router manufacturer. Open the "Administration" or Main Interface menu, specify the path to the firmware file and update the software.
Step 5
Now go to the Network Setup or Internet Setup menu. Configure the required parameters. Be sure to specify the data transfer protocol, login and provider. Save your changes.
Step 6
At this stage, the configuration of the local network can be considered complete. If you do not need to create a wireless access point, then reboot the router.
Step 7
If you need to access the Internet wirelessly, open the Wireless Setup or Wireless Setup menu. Create a name (SSID) and password (Password) for your network. Specify the required types of security and wireless signal transmission.
Step 8
Save the settings. Reboot the hardware. Connect laptops to a wireless hotspot.
