Each computer connected to the network has an ip-address, which is its unique network identifier. At the same time, there are no two machines on the network with the same IP. Sometimes a user may want to know where the computer with a specific ip address is.

Step 1
The need to find out the location of a remote machine can arise in a variety of cases - for example, when a suspicious connection to your computer is detected. You can check the list of connections using the netstat – aon command at the command line. The column "External address" will contain the ip-addresses with which your computer was connected or is connected at the moment.
Step 2
The easiest way to determine the IP of a site is to use the ping command on the command line in the format: ping site_name. For example, in order to find out Google's ip, type in the command line: ping google.ru and press Enter. The exchange of packets with the site will begin, in the very first lines you will see its ip-address.
Step 3
To find out where the computer is located, use one of the network services that provide the appropriate services. For example, this: https://www.ip-1.ru/ Select the "Geocoding" tab, enter the ip-address, click "Show on map". A map will appear in front of you, which will indicate the location of the physical location of the computer.
Step 4
You should be aware that this method of determining will not always allow you to actually establish the location of the computer. For example, you know the IP of your interlocutor, or you figured out that a hacker has connected to your computer. By entering the ip-address in the field of the above service, you will get a point on the map, but in reality it will give you little - if only because your interlocutor or hacker can use a proxy server, the location of which you will find out.
Step 5
To determine if a given IP address of a proxy server, use the service https://ripe.net/ Enter ip in the RIPE Database field, and you will receive fairly complete information about the address you are interested in. However, at best, it will be the provider's address. You will not be able to find out the specific address and name of the person, since the provider has no right to transfer such information to you.
