There are three main types of devices with the help of which wireless Internet is realized - a mobile phone as a modem, a USB modem, a Wi-Fi router. The latter has a limited territorial application in comparison with the first two and is used mainly in large settlements. There is also satellite Internet, but it is unrealizable without the presence of one of the above types of communication.
Necessary
- - computer - PC, netbook, laptop;
- - Wi-Fi router;
- - mobile phone supporting GPRS / EDGE / 3G / 4G networks;
- - USB modem.
Instructions
Step 1
The most convenient and common way to connect to the Internet is to use a USB modem. Purchase your device from any network operator in your area and plug it into a USB port on your computer. The driver installer and connection setup program will start on its own, and after a short time, a message will appear in the taskbar stating that the device is installed and ready to use.
Step 2
If autorun does not happen, open the media (folder "My Computer", virtual CD-ROM indicating the modem), find and run the AutoRun.exe file yourself. Follow the prompts of the installer during the installation process.
Step 3
Connecting to the internet using a mobile phone is a little more complicated. For a cell phone to be used as a modem, it must support packet data transmission in the GPRS / EDGE / 3G / 4G format. This information can be found in the user guide of the phone. If support is available, enable it. To do this, dial a specific operator-dependent number on your phone and press the call key. Save the settings that come in response.
Step 4
Connect your phone to your computer using a cable, Bluetooth or IrDA. Insert the software disc into the drive and wait for it to start automatically. If the launch does not happen, do it manually by running the Setup.exe file after opening the disk in Explorer. Follow all the instructions of the installation wizard, which should install the driver for the cable, modem and create a connection.
Step 5
If the automatic installation did not happen for any reason, open the Phone and Modem Service in the "Taskbar". In the "Modem" option, start the process of manual modem installation by pressing the "Add" button. The APN value that you will need during the operation can be found in the user manual or by going to the operator's website.
Step 6
When the modem is installed, go to the "Control Panel" and open the "Network Connections" service or "Network and Sharing Center" - depending on which version of Windows you have installed. Run the wizard for creating a new connection and use it to create an Internet connection, by double-clicking on which, you can access the Internet. If you have any problems, contact the cellular operator through its website or reference phone. The support service or dispatcher will answer all your questions.
Step 7
Connecting to the internet using a Wi-Fi router is as easy as using a USB tethering. Purchase a router with a SIM card from your provider (cellular operator), insert the latter into the slot of the device and connect it to the computer via the USB port. The program will automatically establish a connection and configure it.
