Yahoo is an American corporation that owns the second most popular search engine of the same name. In addition to developing the services of its search portal, the corporation is also engaged in the production of applied software. The latest novelty released this year is aimed at web surfers and also has a direct relationship to search engines.
Yahoo! Axis for personal and laptop computers is an add-on search plug-in for the most common browsers. It can be installed on Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome. The add-on is used as another search engine with a different way of presenting results from the usual options. In the browser, the plug-in is a search query input field, in which there is no contextual hint that has already become familiar, i.e. when entering a query, the plugin does not try to guess the continuation of the word being entered. Search results are displayed not in the format of links, but as a set of miniature screenshots of pages found on the network. This gallery of images has horizontal scrolling and is always visible - by clicking on the selected picture-link, you will go to the desired page, but the results will remain at the bottom of the window.
For mobile devices - iPads and iPhones - with iOS installed, Apple does not allow software manufacturers to create plugins for the Mobile Safari browser. Therefore, for them, Yahoo! Axis is implemented as a standalone browser, which, however, still uses the Safari engine. Pages in it, as in all modern Internet browsers, open in tabs, and the user can customize the links-pictures of the initial page. Other features of the application include the ability to synchronize favorites, browsing history and search between browsers of different devices - for example, a desktop computer and a smartphone. This option is also not unique, but it is quite convenient.
