When you installed a Wi-Fi router at home, you became more mobile and, one might say, connected the Internet to every point of the apartment. The last practical step that remains for you to take is to connect your laptop to the wireless Internet in order to fully enjoy all the possibilities of modern communication.
Instructions
Step 1
Configure the access point in the router menu. Specify its name, by which you can identify it through other devices. Enter the network security code to prevent other users from connecting to your internet. Make other settings according to the router user's manual.
Step 2
To connect to the wireless Internet, a Wi-Fi module must be installed in your laptop. Activate it. At the same time, the diode provided by the design will light up on the laptop, signaling the inclusion of the Wi-Fi module.
Step 3
Go to your laptop in Network Connections and Network Management. Search for available connections. If you, for example, have Windows Vista installed on a laptop, you can make it easier by going through the "Start" menu in the "Connection" submenu. In the window that opens, select the display of wireless networks. Below you will see the networks available for connection.
Step 4
Find the name of your access point from the displayed networks, which you entered in the router settings. To connect your laptop to the wireless Internet, select this network and click the "Connect" button. The computer will ask you to enter the code that you set simultaneously with the access point in the router settings. By entering the code, you can use the wireless Internet from your laptop.
Step 5
Going into the settings of the established wireless connection, you can choose different connection options, for example, automatic connection establishment when you are in the range of a wireless network, which can be very convenient, since it does not require a constant manual connection after the laptop is booted up.
