If UMTS technology has already become widespread in your region, then the Internet speed promises to be decent, but, as a rule, the mobile Internet through a cellular operator does not differ in special speeds, and it also costs a lot. Read the terms and conditions of the contract carefully when concluding it. Usually providers provide a certain amount of traffic for a certain amount per month, but each megabyte in excess of the agreed volume may cost additional money. Mobile wireless Internet from a cellular provider can be a good solution in work situations when you need to check email, hold a meeting or find some information on the network, but it is hardly suitable for large-scale activities such as watching movies online.

If you want to watch movies in the kitchen, read books with a PDA in the bedroom, or just flip through the forum, sitting comfortably on the couch with a laptop, then you better connect a wireless home network based on Wi-Fi technology. The center of such a wireless network will be a special router-router connected to a cable through which ordinary Internet enters your house. All network settings are pre-loaded into the router. If the router is given permission to work in Wi-Fi mode, then all devices within reach, equipped with a Wi-Fi receiver, will be able to access the Internet. When setting up your home wireless network, keep security in mind. Be sure to put a cipher on the wireless connection (the router itself will offer you a type of cipher during the setup process), and give the network users who you allow to connect to the router a cipher key. Otherwise, anyone can wirelessly connect to your network. Do not let strangers use your Internet: in some cases, this can lead to rather unpleasant consequences.
