Step 1
Purchase a Wi-Fi router that works with your ISP. It is better to check the compatibility of the model in advance by visiting the official website of the company providing Internet access services. Connect the purchased equipment to the AC mains, having previously installed it in the desired location. It is better to place the Wi-Fi router in the center of an apartment or house to ensure a stable signal at all required points.
Step 2
Connect the provider's cable to the Internet or WAN port of the network equipment and turn on the Wi-Fi router. A network cable is usually supplied with this unit. Connect one end to the LAN port of the router and the other to the network adapter of your laptop or computer.
Step 3
Turn on the laptop selected for settings and open an Internet browser. Fill in the url input field with the router's IP. Check its meaning in the user manual for the network device. After opening the equipment web interface, go to the “Internet” or WAN menu. Configure communication with the provider's server using certain parameters. Usually they are not much different from the data that you specify when you connect your computer directly to the network.
Step 4
Make sure NAT, Firewall and DHCP functions are enabled. Apply the new custom item settings and open the Wi-Fi Network or Wireless Settings menu. Create a new wireless access point. Be sure to set a strong password after selecting the appropriate security type. Save the wireless settings and reboot the Wi-Fi router.
Step 5
Disconnect the network cable from the laptop and enable the search for wireless networks. Connect to the desired Wi-Fi hotspot. Check your internet connection.
