The English version of the name for Wi-Fi looks like this: Wi-Fi. It is a play on words, hinting at the well-known Hi-Fi standard - "High Fidelity", or in Russian "High fidelity". The term "Wi-Fi" can be interpreted as follows: "Wireless Fidelity" (translated as "wireless accuracy"), although at the moment this wording is not officially used, and the term itself cannot be deciphered.

Step 1
Wi-Fi, or otherwise WLAN, is a wireless Internet operating in accordance with IEEE 802.11n standards (data transmission is carried out at speeds up to 300 Mbps), IEEE 802.11a (speeds up to 54 Mbps at frequencies within 5 GHz), IEEE 802.11b (data transfer rate - up to 11 Mbit / s at frequencies up to 2.4 GHz), IEEE 802.11.g (speed 54 Mbit / s, but frequencies - up to 2.4 GHz).

It all works like this: client devices (personal computers, laptops, smartphones and others) are connected to the access point using Wi-Fi receivers (adapters). A connection to a local network or to the World Wide Web is performed automatically literally a few seconds after connecting. How the Internet is connected to the access point does not matter.
Step 3
Start your computer and open "Network and Sharing Center". Select wireless connections and find the network you want to connect to in the list.
Step 4
Click on the name of the network and enter the password if necessary. The computer will connect and the system will ask you to determine the type of network. Access points fall into two categories: private and public. The former are used only by their owners, but if the network is not protected with a password, other users can also connect to it. Public ones are those that, either for free or for money, provide an opportunity to access the Internet for an unlimited number of people. Points of access to wireless Internet ("hotspots") are located in crowded places: airports, railway stations, libraries, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and the latter use this opportunity as a good bait for customers: after all, a visitor connecting to Internet, anything, at least a bottle of water, but he will buy, even out of decency.
