The Sims 2 life simulator has won the hearts of many users around the world. Several years after the release of the base game, add-ons and catalogs appeared that made the gameplay more realistic and versatile, and the ability to create custom content allowed each player to build their own unique world. First of all, make sure you have enough space on your computer's hard drive. A game with all add-ons and catalogs can take about 9 GB. Also, if you are going to add custom content, there must be free space on the drive containing the My Documents folder. Its size is already more difficult to determine: for some, 500-700 MB is enough, and for someone 12 GB is not enough.
Step 2
There is one more thing to consider. By itself, a "clean" game is quite unpretentious, but the more new objects you add, the greater the load. With an insufficient amount of RAM and a weak video card, frequent errors and crashes can occur in the game. And, of course, it is preferable to purchase a licensed disc, rather than download the game from the network, ignoring the requirements of the copyright holder. Either way, the way The Sims 2 gets to your computer is entirely up to you.
Step 3
If the game is on a disc, the installation is automatic, you just need to follow the instructions of the "Installation Wizard". If you do not have a disk itself, but a disk image, run a program for emulating drives and creating images, for example Daemon Tools. Create a virtual drive, mount the game disc image on it. After that, open the created virtual disk and complete the installation in the usual way.
Step 4
Start the game from the shortcut on the desktop or via the.exe file in the directory with the installed game. If you have installed add-ons, remember that you need to select the launch file not for the base game, but for the add-on that was released by the developers most recently. Downloading The Sims 2 for the first time without additional content takes a few minutes. In the main window, select one of the neighborhoods and wait for the game to determine the installed directories and add-ons.
Step 5
In the neighborhood window, you can see which add-ons and directories were recognized and which are missing. If something is missing, exit the game. Call the Run command through the "Start" button. In a blank line, enter regedit without any extra printable characters and click OK or press Enter. In the registry editor, open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / EA GAMES / The Sims 2 branch and the EPsInstalled key. Step 6
If you did not install any directory or add-on, put a comma in the key instead (if one addon is missing, put one comma, if three in a row, put three commas). A distinctive feature of the registry entry for the Free Time add-on: in any case, there must be two commas before it. After editing, close the registry and load the game again, the missing directories and add-ons should appear. Place additional materials in a folder at: C (or another drive) / My Documents / EA Games / The Sims 2 / Downloads.
