To connect to the Internet via a telephone line, you need a DSL modem. These devices must be configured according to the requirements set by your particular network provider.
Necessary
- - Network cable;
- - splitter.
Instructions
Step 1
To connect to the Internet through the network of UTK (Rostelecom Branch), you need a DSL modem with support for the Bridge function. Purchase this equipment and install it in the desired location.
Step 2
Connect the telephone line cable to the DSL connector. For a stable connection, it is better to use a splitter. This device separates the signal transmitted over the telephone cable. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to connect a landline phone and a modem to the same line at the same time.
Step 3
Connect a network cable to the LAN connector of the modem. Connect the other end to the network adapter of your computer or laptop. Connect the modem to AC power and turn on this unit. Turn on your computer and wait for the operating system to load.
Step 4
Open an Internet browser and go to the web interface of the modem settings by entering its IP address. Update the firmware of the network equipment, if recommended by the provider. Reboot the modem after completing this procedure.
Step 5
Open the WAN menu and click the Add button. Set the VPI and VCI fields to 0 and 35 respectively. In the Service Category field, select UBR Without PCR. Click the Next button.
Step 6
In the Connecting Type menu, set the Bridge option. Select LLC / Snap-Bridging in the Encapsulation Mode field. Click Next and check the box next to Enable Bridge Service. Click Next again.
Step 7
Leave the rest of the parameters unchanged. Press the Next button several times and restart the modem after completing the configuration. Open the properties of your computer's network adapter.
Step 8
Select the TCP / IP options. Enter the static IP address 192.168.1.2. Press Tab twice and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the next two fields.
Step 9
Wait until the network settings are updated and try to open the desired web page.
