Without exception, all wired modems receive broadband Internet access via a telephone line. The ADSL modem installation process is divided into two stages: connecting to the telephone line and setting up the connection.

It is necessary

  • - Internet service provider;
  • - A computer;
  • - ADSL modem.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure you have all the equipment you need to connect your broadband modem. This list includes: the broadband modem itself, a manual CD, an Ethernet cable, a telephone cable, and a power adapter. Contact the dealer or manufacturer of your modem if any of the above items are missing.

Step 2

Please read the owner's manual to understand the purpose of each piece of equipment in the package.

Step 3

If your modem has an ADSL connector, connect a telephone line cord to this port. In the absence of such a connector, the manufacturer includes a CAT5 or CAT6 cable that is compatible with the corresponding device model.

Step 4

Connect a network cable from any of the ADSL modem's Ethernet ports to your computer's LAN or Ethernet port.

Step 5

Connect the power adapter to your modem, connect it to your computer, and turn it on. Check the connections of all devices before starting the installation process.

Step 6

Open a web browser and enter the site URL for configuring the modem in the search bar. Check your user manual for your URL. Contact manufacturer support if you cannot find this information.

Step 7

Enter the control section by entering the username and password found in the user manual. Again, if you cannot find the information you are looking for, please contact support. However, first try entering the default username and password: "admin".

Step 8

Select the type of internet connection. There are four types of broadband internet connection: dynamic IP, static IP, PPPoE, and Bridge Mode. Call your provider to find out which settings are most compatible with the type of network provided.

Step 9

Select the "dynamic IP address" option to get access to the IP address automatically from the provider's server. You will be provided with your own address for each broadband internet connection. In some cases the IP address is dynamic and in others it is static. Enter the MAC address of the modem. This is usually located on the back of the modem.

Step 10

Choose a static IP if your ISP provides you with a static IP. You need to fill in VPI, VCI, IP address, subnet mask, ISP gateway address, server address, primary DSN address, secondary DSN address and connection type. You can get this data from your provider.

Step 11

Select PPPoE if your ISP uses this type of connection. Most ADSL broadband modems use this connection. Enter your username, password, and other information. Your provider will provide this information.

Step 12

Select Bridge Mode if your ISP uses this type of connection. Enter the appropriate information provided by your ISP.

Step 13

Complete the process by clicking on the "Finish" icon. Your ADSL modem is now fully configured. Enter any URL in your web browser to test the connection.
