Almost half of Internet users buy goods in online stores, more than a third use online banking services. Such a large number of financial payments attracts criminals. Therefore, you need to be able to distinguish real stores from phishing sites (fakes), the purpose of which is to steal your payment information.
It is necessary
Computer, laptop, tablet (smartphone) from which you access the Internet; browser
Instructions
Step 1
Never use payment services and do not enter your Internet Banking accounts if you access the Internet via an unsecured Wi-Fi access point. Attackers can intercept data transmitted over the channel.
Step 2
Before making a purchase in a store that is new to you, read reviews about him on the Internet, see if he has official pages on social networks.
Step 3
Do not trust stores hosted on free hosting (such as ucoz and the like), the site address should be like ladycotton.ru, not ladycotton.mb18port.ru. On the website whois-service.ru, check when the domain was created and by what time it was paid.
Step 4
If you received a letter supposedly from a bank (with a request to enter your account and change your password, transfer your data on the site again, because they were lost as a result of some kind of database failure or something else like that), then never enter any data following the links from the letter. And it's best not to click on these links at all - most likely they lead to fake sites. For all clarifications, contact the bank in person. And in general, do not click on links in letters, messages in social networks, on advertisements on unknown sites.
Step 5
Check the address of the site you are viewing (especially before you start making a purchase): fake sites completely copy the appearance of the originals, and their address may contain typos (or even meaningless sets of letters). It is advisable to enter the addresses of sites you know by hand.
Step 6
It is better if the online store uses a secure connection: the full address contains https and a lock instead of http. If you click on the lock in the address bar of the browser, you can find out the information about the owner of the certificate for a secure connection.
Step 7
Use a separate card for online purchases and do not keep a lot of funds on it.
