The template is needed to simplify the work of the webmaster. It contains a standard set of files that form the basis of the site. Subsequently, they can be adjusted, thus creating an individual design.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the right template, be sure to test the demo version. Keep in mind that when you change from one theme to another, you will not always get the result that you saw on the site. Most templates need to be modified in accordance with the needs of the resource.
Step 2
Download the archive, check its contents for files. They must be in the right amount. Of course, you can only determine the performance of a template empirically, so you shouldn't look through all the attachments, just pay attention to the minimum kit suitable for the selected CMS.
Step 3
Upload files. This can be done through the control panel or a special program that allows you to establish a connection to the server.
Step 4
Go to the admin panel and select the installed option from the list of templates. Refresh the site page - and you will see how it looks after changing the design.
Step 5
To replace the Joomla template, follow the following algorithm:
- select a template in accordance with the version of the control panel and download it from sites such as https://joomlashablony.ru/, https://joomla-master.org/, https://www.1joomla.ru/ and others;
- go to the admin panel, go to the extensions panel, click "Install" and through the "Load package file" menu select the archive with the desired template;
- click "Download and Install"; if the archive files do not contain errors, the message "Template installation was completed successfully" will appear;
- go to "Extensions" - "Template manager" - "Styles";
- in the "Default" column mark the required template with an asterisk.
Step 6
The WordPress theme is installed in a slightly different way. After downloading the archive, you need to unpack it to any convenient place, and then upload it to the server or simply transfer it to the desired folder if the site is running on the local host. In the second case, save the folder with the files contained in the archive, where the themes are stored ("Site folder" - Wp-content - Themes). Then go to the admin panel, go to "Appearance" - "Themes" and activate the desired option.
Step 7
To upload a template to the server, use a special program, for example, FileZilla (https://filezilla.ru/). Algorithm for working with the application:
- open the program;
- in the upper left menu select "File" - "Site Manager";
- if the site is not set, go to the "New site" section, enter the domain, on the right in the general settings, specify the host and port (you can find out from the company where you bought the hosting), change the login type from "Anonymous" to "Normal", set username and password (issued when purchasing hosting);
- click the "Connect" button;
- on the right side of the panel, select the site root (in the case of Wordpress - public_html), i.e. the line "Remote site" should be "/ public_html";
- on the left side of the program (the files of your computer are presented here) find the folder with the desired theme, right-click on it and select the "Upload to server" command;
- when the process starts, the number of transfers will be displayed at the bottom of the panel in the "Files in task" tab, and if for some reason something was not transferred, it is necessary to put it back into the task and send it.
Now it remains to go to the admin panel and activate the downloaded theme.
