ICQ is slated to replace Telegram. The latter may be blocked because the government has not received the codes to decrypt the messages. The presidential aide for the development of the Internet suggested using ICQ, since it is not worse than Telegrams.
It is highly likely that the Telegram messenger will not be used on the territory of our country. This is due to the fact that Pavel Durov (the creator) did not provide the Russian government with the keys to decrypt the messages. Against this background, Russian users began to actively register in the ICQ messenger. Not so long ago, the function of group audio and video calls was launched in it. Participate in them up to four people at once.
Benefits of Telegram and ICQ
The messenger is popular because:
- has a high speed of message delivery;
- there are many different thematic channels;
- users can enjoy free stickers.
ICQ is one of the first communication services that has become popular among Russian users. But with the development and introduction of new technologies, it was practically ousted from the market. A new round of development began in 2016.
Similarities and differences
In both messengers, you can invite other people to the dialogue from the hour, but in Telegram you cannot go out of the chat to the image gallery. "ICE" makes it possible to create a microblog. Friends can comment on entries in it.
These two services differ in the place of information storage. In Teleram, correspondence is stored on servers, with the exception of only classified dialogues. Thanks to this same feature, it becomes possible to transmit messages more quickly. ICQ stores correspondence on the user's device. Therefore, if you disable the option to save the correspondence in the archive after deleting it, it will not be possible to restore it.
Safety is also an important parameter. ICQ has only recently started using a special encryption protocol. Telegram developers initially put this parameter in the first place. After a police squad entered Pavel Durov's apartment, he decided to create such software that would allow him to communicate in a safe mode.
In terms of security, Telegram is inferior to ICQ, since it allows you to protect data from prying eyes. Therefore, users have the opportunity to communicate in hidden dialogues, independently determine the time after which information from the correspondence will be independently deleted.
In ICQ, you can attach only photos to a message or record messages. Modern Telegram has a more advanced system. The latter allows you to use a large set of stickers, attach cartoons. It also has a blacklist, thanks to which you can block the possibility of correspondence with certain users.
Why is ICQ better?
In the messenger, you can set up a pin code, hidden notifications. The latter have the ability to adjust the sound and pop-ups. In addition, the developers have made it easier to find old messages.
If necessary, you can connect the messenger to the mail. This makes it possible to be notified of all new messages. The obvious advantages include:
- integration with social networks;
- use on different devices;
- the ability to subscribe to various channels.
Will ICQ replace Pavel Durov's messenger?
German Klimenko, Advisor to the President on Internet Development, recommends using ICQ when blocking Telegram. In his opinion, this is a full-fledged messenger, in no way inferior to the project of P. Durov. He noted that in case of blocking, 80-90% of users will lose access to a convenient service. This figure depends on how the developer behaves.
Both programs have strengths and weaknesses. Many are accustomed to Telegram, perhaps ICQ developers will take into account all the strengths of their rival, finalize the project, making it more convenient to work with. Currently, there are more "advanced" programs that have no less chance of winning this competition.
