Often, when using the World Wide Web, it becomes necessary to block access to certain resources or resource groups. There can be many reasons for this, but it is worth remembering that the procedure for banning visits to sites is quite simple and does not cause any particular difficulties.
Instructions
Step 1
To block access to certain sites, edit the hosts file located at c: / windows / system32 / drivers / etc \. This document contains the DNS names of prohibited resources, so by placing the necessary addresses in it, you will prevent visiting unwanted sites from your computer. This mechanism is relevant only for one PC, and if the blocked site has mirrors, then you need to make an entry in the host for each mirror separately.
Step 2
Also use the IP blocking method. To do this, create a list of IP addresses of sites with denied access for a specific computer, thereby you will ensure blocking using the firewall program. However, with this method, it will be impossible to block the site by part of the name. Do not forget about the method using a proxy server. The bottom line is to create "black lists" of sites in the proxy server software settings. When using this method, you indicate "stop words" in the addresses of sites to which you want to block access. The inadequacy of this method lies in the forced configuration of browsers and in the ability of users to visit prohibited resources bypassing the proxy server.
Step 3
Also use the URL filtering method. Excellent flexibility and good effect distinguish this method from the previous ones. Analyzing each network resource is at the heart of the URL filtering process. If a WEB request header is found containing the site address that needs to be blocked, then the following operations are performed:
1) a network resource is blocked with a client's request;
2) the message "Access is blocked" is sent to the client;
3) the TCP connection is interrupted.
To use this method, enter denied requests in the filter value and save the changes. The URL filter can block access to any site by name, prevent the download of a file by their extension, as well as create a list of allowed sites and deny access to the rest.
