Sometimes the administrator of a personal computer needs to block other users from accessing certain Internet pages. This can be done both in the browser settings and in the operating system itself.
Instructions
Step 1
Create separate minimum-privilege accounts for other computer users to restrict access to specific sites. Then boot under your administrator account and put a password on it.
Step 2
Activate parental settings. This feature is available in the latest versions of the Windows operating system and is activated through the accounts menu. With it, you can block access to certain categories of Internet resources.
Step 3
Open the "Settings" menu if you are using the Opera browser and click on the "Content" line. On the "Blocked Content" tab, add the URL of the webpage to block. Firefox and Google Chrome browsers have the ability to download special add-ons to restrict access to certain websites, as well as prevent password changes to settings. To install these add-ons, open the official browser website and search for the corresponding extensions.
Step 4
Block Internet access on certain days and hours, for example, while you are away from work. The application Caspersky Crystal will help you with this, with support for automatic blocking of Internet access on certain days of the week, hours, minutes and selected days of the calendar. You can also use it to prevent changing the settings with a password.
Step 5
Deny entry to the site by saving its address in the hosts file. Go to the My Computer menu and open the Windows folder. Then go to the system32 / drivers / etc / directory and find the hosts file in the destination folder. Open it with notepad. Enter below the address of those sites that you want to block. Do not forget to specify the mask 127.0.0.1 before each address. As a result, the line will look something like this: 127.0.0.1 site.com. Save your changes.
