Termination of access to any site may be necessary in different cases. For example, parents may want to restrict the download of some resources for their child, or the employer may want to block access to social networks for employees in the office. To achieve your goal, you can use one of several methods.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to "My Computer", open drive C. Among all the available folders, find Windows. Now go to the System 32 folder and then to Drivers and etc. The last one will contain the file you need called hosts. Open it with notepad. To do this, double-click on the file with the left mouse button. Select a program from the list that appears and click OK. You can do it differently: click not with the left, but with the right button, then select the column called "Open with". And again, stop your choice on the program "Notepad".
Step 2
After opening the file, find the line "127.0.0.1 localhost". Press the Enter key and write down the specified combination of numbers. However, replace localhost with the site you want to block (for example, www.sait.com). To stop accessing multiple addresses, repeat this procedure.
Step 3
Reboot your computer. Until you do this, the sites will still be available on your computer.
Step 4
You can also deny access to some sites through the browser settings. Internet Explorer users need to open the "Service" tab, and in it click on "Internet Options". Now select the "Privacy" menu, then "Sites". Specify the sites that need to be blocked, click the "Block" button and confirm the action by clicking the OK button.
Step 5
In the Mozilla Firefox browser, you can use special plugins to block sites. To add at least one of them, open the "Tools" tab, then go to "Add-ons". After that, click on the add-on you need, for example, LeechBlock. Then click on the "Install Now" button. After completing the installation procedure, be sure to restart your computer, or at least restart your browser. To add the URL of the blocked site, run the plugin and go to the "Options" tab. Please note that you can set a complete ban on the site (that is, permanent) or temporary.
