Step 1
To block a program from accessing the Internet, you need a special program - a firewall. It is this class of programs that allows you to control the network activity of any applications installed on your computer. There are many similar programs. Moreover, experts recommend using firewalls in conjunction with antivirus software, since this combination of protection tools can prevent many network threats to your home computer. When choosing a firewall, you will find both paid and free software solutions. The most famous and well-established protection tools are Outpost Firewall Pro from the paid solutions and COMODO Firewall from the free ones. You can choose the program you like and download it from the website of the respective manufacturer.
Step 2
Further actions, showing how to block the program's access to the Internet, we will show using the example of COMODO Firewall. After installing the program and restarting the system, you will see the COMODO icon in the system tray next to the clock. Double click on it with the mouse to open the firewall settings window. In it, you will see four tabs: summary, firewall, protection, miscellaneous. Go to the "Firewall" tab. Select the Add Blocked Application task.
Step 3
In the small window that appears, you will see the address bar. To block the program's access to the Internet, click on the "Select" button. You can specify the program to be blocked from the list of running processes, as well as through the "Browse" and the Explorer window, enter its location on the hard disk of the computer. Then click the "Apply" button. Now the specified application will be blocked by a firewall when trying to transfer data to the Internet. The application itself will either give a connection error or assume that the required server is temporarily down.
