Communication between a node and a computer is usually through an intermediate device called a router. When using the TCP / IP protocol, it is called the default gateway.

Instructions

Step 1

One way is to view the properties of the network connection. Go to the "Item" menu, then to the "Settings" section, select "Network Connections". Find the shortcut of the current network connection in the window that opens and right-click on it. In the window that appears, select "Status". An information window will open, in it go to the "Support" tab. You will see in the bottom line the IP address of the computer's default gateway on the network.

Step 2

You can use the standard type utility ipconfig. It is controlled from the command line, so first start the command line terminal. From the Start menu, select Run, which opens a dialog box called Run Program. You can also open it by pressing the WIN + R keys at the same time. Type cmd in the input field and click on "OK". A terminal window should appear in which you need to type ipconfig and press Enter. The utility will start, which will show in the terminal window the parameters of the current PC connections, including the ip-address of the default gateway.

Step 3

Keep in mind that such a circumstance may arise when the computer is connected to an external network via a router, then the internal gateway of the router itself will be the main gateway for the PC. That is why if you need to find out the IP-address of the main gateway of an Internet provider, then connect the Internet connection directly to the PC's network card, bypassing the router. You can do without this by calling the technical support of your provider and asking your questions.
