Disabling the chat function in different social networks and games is done in different ways. However, there are some basic actions that remain unchanged in most cases.
Instructions
Step 1
To disable Gmail chat, open the settings menu by clicking the gear button and select "Mail settings". Go to the "Chat" tab and select the "Turn off chat" option. Use the "Save Changes" button to close the chat window.
Step 2
Use the official iGoogle settings page to block chat and go to the "General" tab in the main section. Specify the command "Hide chat" and confirm your choice by clicking the "Save" button.
Step 3
Enter your account name in the text box of the Google Chat search bar to block an individual user and use the Chat button in the dialog that opens. Please note that the selected user will not be informed of the action being taken. Expand the Actions menu in the chat window and select the Block command.
Step 4
Bring up the Yahoo chat window to block messages from the selected user and use the "Block Sender" button in the upper service panel. Close the chat window by clicking the button with the [x] symbol in the upper right corner of the window. When a chat window of a user trying to start a conversation appears, use the "Block sender" button on the service panel. Please note that in order to block a user from your Yahoo Messenger contacts directory, you must first remove them from your friends list.
Step 5
Download and install the dedicated Dota Console Hider application on your computer to block the selected user from the Dota chat. Launch the application and specify the path to the Dota map in the top line of the main program window. Specify the full path to the folder storing the WarCraft files in the WarCraft Path line of the Extra section and apply the checkbox to the Add Hide Chat option. Confirm your choice by clicking the Go button and save the changes made by clicking the Apply Extra button. Expand the "Options" menu in the game window and go to the "Game" item. Expand the Language node and apply the checkbox in the Hide Chat row.
