The need to update a distribution can arise in several cases. For example, you download a series, new parts of which are added to an existing distribution. Or you yourself want to add new episodes. At the same time, on most trackers, it is forbidden to create a new distribution if the corresponding topic already exists.
Necessary
- - torrent client;
- - new files for the old distribution;
- - registration on the tracker.
Instructions
Step 1
If you need to update the distribution on your computer in order to download new parts, remove the distribution from the client. You need to get rid of the old torrent file. Leave the parts of the film, album or program where they are.
Step 2
Go to the tracker and grab a new torrent file from there. Upload it to the same folder as the old one. Open the file through the client. The client will perfectly cope with the verification of already existing parts without your participation and will begin to download the rest of the series.
Step 3
If you created the distribution of a series or discography on the tracker, the right to add new parts also remains with you. It is impractical to create a new distribution, well, except in the case when the series is huge and it is better to share it. In all other cases, you need to edit the release.
Step 4
Log out to the tracker. Try editing the release using the Edit button. Some trackers do it. In most cases, you will see a sign in front of you informing you that you do not have the appropriate rights. Find who is the moderator of this section and send him a private message. The moderator's nickname can be found on the page with a list of topics, opposite the corresponding section. In the message, indicate why you want to change the distribution.
Step 5
After getting permission to edit, change the release. It may be necessary to change or supplement the theme, indicate that new series have been added, etc. This is done either in the body of the message or in the title of the topic.
Step 6
Create a new torrent file. Add new parts to the folder that already contains the files intended for distribution. In principle, it is not forbidden to replace all of them, but it is possible that someone has already downloaded or downloaded the old files, and when replacing them, problems may arise. So it's better to add. Delete the old torrent file and give the new one the same name.
Step 7
Go to the tracker again. Below you will see the very window into which the torrent file was inserted when organizing the distribution. Click the Browse button and select a new file. Below this window is the "Attach file" button, this time you need to skip it. Below you will see three buttons - "Edit comment", "Attach a new version" and "Delete attached file". Press the middle button and then the "Submit" button.
Step 8
Check if your new torrent has registered. This doesn't always happen automatically. If this is your first time updating a distribution, the moderator might not have given you this right. Then in the line "Torrent" there will be an inscription "Not registered". In this situation, it is best to write a private message to the moderator that you have added files to the distribution and replaced the torrent file. After a while, an inscription will appear in the corresponding window that the torrent is registered on the tracker. If the moderator already knows you and is sure of the legality of your actions, the registration message may appear immediately.
Step 9
The fact that the distribution has been updated must be reported to the rest of the users. If they downloaded an old torrent file and do not know about the existence of a new one, they will have difficulties. It is best to place the update message directly in the topic, using a different font.
