There are different chat programs, some are used to connect via the Internet, and some via a local network. There is not much difference here. Also, programs for chats over a local network are very easy to write on your own, having at least an average level of knowledge of the programming language.
Necessary
- - constructor program;
- - connection to a local network and the Internet;
- - an emulator program.
Instructions
Step 1
If you need to send a message to a specific person on the local network, find out the name of his computer and use the command line available by typing cmd into the Run utility line. Enter the “net send …” command, replace the ellipsis with the correct full name of the computer registered in your local network.
Step 2
Please note that at the time of sending a message, the recipient must be connected to the local network, otherwise your message will not be read by a computer user.
Step 3
Use special programs to communicate with other users on the local network. There are a lot of ready-made chat programs, choose the one that best suits your requests for advanced features and interface.
Step 4
Also note that it should support multiple operating systems if the local network contains enough users. It is quite possible that among them there are also users of alternative software. Configure the program according to the parameters and characteristics of the LAN connection you are using.
Step 5
Write a chat program yourself if you have programming skills. Use special builders with emulators for this. After you have written a program for chatting over a local network, test its operation on computers with different operating systems.
Step 6
Run it on your local network and provide other users with a link to download the file and the necessary settings, without which the program will not work. Typically, it can take you a day or more to create such a program, depending on your programming skills.
