Internet traffic speed is the speed at which data is transmitted and received through an Internet channel from a computer to a server and vice versa. The traffic speed can be monitored in real time or measured using services for assessing the speed of the Internet channel.

Instructions

Step 1

The speed of incoming traffic is of particular interest to users who download large files from the Internet. In order to find out the current speed of incoming or outgoing traffic, just open the task manager by pressing the key combination Ctrl + alt="Image" + Del and select "Start Task Manager" in the welcome window. In the window that appears, activate the "Network" tab. You will see a graph on the screen showing the percentage of the connection utilization. In the table below you can estimate the line speed and present the load in kilo- or megabytes thanks to the percentage grid.

However, this method of estimating traffic speed is approximate and not accurate enough.

Step 2

At a given point in time, you can find out the exact indicators of the traffic speed. To do this, go to the 2IP website: 2ip.ru/speed and click the "Test" button. You will see the message “Inbound speed testing in progress” and after a few seconds the corresponding data will appear on the screen. To test the traffic speed to obtain the most reliable result, you must disable all downloaders, instant messengers and online applications before starting the test.

Step 3

Also, in any uploader client, you can view the speed of the incoming traffic related to the file download. This speed excludes the number of KB or MB spent on other processes (browser, instant messengers, Windows update, etc.). For example, in the popular torrent clients uTorrent and BitTorrent, opposite each file you can see the line "Receive" - it contains indicators of the speed of incoming traffic.

In the Download Master, the cells in the “Speed” column also show the download speed (incoming traffic). Programs such as Orbit and FlashGet also show the download speed in a separate file upload window.
