In order to install icq on your computer, you need to download it first. To download, you can use the official website or any other available resource. If ICQ has already been downloaded, then double-click on the installation file to start installing ICQ.
Click the "Next" button and then follow the "install" instructions that will appear in the dialog box. Installation of different versions of ICQ is different, however, the principle is the same. Our example will show the installation of ICQ6.
During installation, you will need to select one of two operating modes: "Public" or "Private". The main difference between the modes is the level of security.
In "Private" mode, installing ICQ means that your password and message history will be saved. This information is not saved in the "Public" mode.
Properties of the "Public" mode:
- The current session is closed if the computer idle time exceeds 15 minutes.
- You can start a new session only by restarting ICQ.
- Properties of "Private" mode:
- Your password and message history will be saved automatically. However, if you are registered as a guest, your password and history will not be saved. You can also save your data manually by checking the corresponding box next to the save history item in the client settings.
- Automatic login to ICQ.
- All client sessions will remain active as long as the Internet connection is active.
- During installation, you will need to enter your username and then password. After entering the data in the installer dialog box, you will need to choose where to save the shortcut for entering ICQ, after which the client installation will be completed.
- You can install several versions of ICQ on your computer. It is very convenient if several users who are accustomed to a certain interface work behind it.
- Now that the client is installed, you can add users to your contact list and start chatting.
