Samsung phones are based on J2ME, Android, Bada and Windows Mobile platforms. ICQ applications exist for any of them. ICQ will not work only on very cheap Samsung phones, where there is not even Java.
Instructions
Step 1
Regardless of what platform your phone is built on, carry out competent preparation for installing and configuring ICQ. Start by checking your access point (APN). It should have the following name:
- internet.mts.ru (for MTS);
- internet.beeline.ru (for Beeline);
- internet (for Megafon).
Remember that even a small mistake in the spelling of the name of the access point can increase the cost of data transfer by several dozen (!) Times. If your operator provides unlimited Internet access on favorable terms for you, activate this service.
Step 2
ICQ clients for the J2ME platform can be used not only on Samsung phones with only Java, but also on Android or Bada models. In the first case, you will have to install a special emulator - Microemu. By the way, using the same emulator, a J2ME application can be launched on a regular computer. The choice of clients for this platform is very wide. Among them, Jimm is the most common, but recently Mail. Ru Agent (in ICQ compatibility mode) and the official ICQ client for J2ME are gaining popularity.
Step 3
On a Samsung phone built on the Android platform, either install the already mentioned Microemu emulator, and on top of it - one of the ICQ clients designed for the J2ME platform, or use the official ICQ client for Android.
Step 4
On the Bada platform, J2ME applications run without installing any additional emulators. But if you want to avoid the performance degradation caused by using an emulator, use the BadaICQ client.
Step 5
It is not always possible to install a J2ME application on Windows Mobile - it all depends on whether your phone model has a Java virtual machine. If it is not there, it is better not to resort to using emulators, since almost all of them are paid for the Windows Mobile platform. Install on your phone the official ICQ client designed specifically for Windows Mobile.
Step 6
Start the client, enter the UIN and password, and then start communicating.
