Communication through messages on the Internet differs from conversation, at least in that it is difficult to convey emotions and shades of meaning. To correct this defect, emoticons were invented, they are also emoticons, from the English smile (smile). In many programs there are whole sets of such pictures, which can be used to convey almost any mood. And for those for whom this is not enough, there is an opportunity to install new emoticons, expanding the palette of emotions.
Instructions
Step 1
Check the version and name of your messaging program. This is the first step you need to take to grow your ICQ, QIP, or Trillian emoji set. To do this, start your instant messaging tool, when you start you will see an inscription like "QIP 2005 build 8097". QIP 2005 is the version of your client for which you need to search for a set of emoticons.
Step 2
If you are unable to find out the name and version of the program in this way, left-click the "Start" button, select the "Programs" menu or the search bar for programs and look for the folder of your messenger, for example, ICQ 7.2.
Step 3
Launch any browser to browse the internet. Open the page of the Google or Yandex search engine and type “download emoticons for QIP 2005” in the search bar. Substitute your version of the messenger for the name.
Step 4
Download the archive with new emoticons, also called emoticons. Check it with an antivirus program, it is not uncommon for viruses and other malicious applications to spread along with useful programs.
Step 5
Right-click on the archive and select "Extract to current folder". As a result, you will have a directory with the name of a smiley pack, in which there will be another one, for example Smilies, and in it there is a new set of smiley pictures.
Step 6
Right-click on the folder with the name of the set of emoticons and select "Copy". Open your messenger folder, for example C: / Programm Files / QIP Infium / Smilies. Right-click in an empty space of the folder and select the "Paste" menu item. The smilepack files will be copied in a minute.
Step 7
Launch your program, open the menu, click the Settings button and the Interface or Skins / Icons tab. If everything is done correctly, you will see a list menu from which you can select a new set of emoticons. Click "Apply" and OK to save the settings.
Step 8
Restart your messaging program. Done, you have a new set of emoticons.
