Step 2
Try to find out if the product was published in other trim levels. So, many TV series are released in several regions at once (for example, in Japan and the USA), differing precisely in the level of censorship. In addition, there are all sorts of director's cuts and special editions (for example, the scene of the massacre in the movie Kill Bill took color only when it was released on DVD). A similar situation is possible with games: for example, the Fahrenheit project in the USA was published with completely excluded erotic content, in contrast to the European version.
Step 3
In computer games, censorship is usually not part of the engine. It all depends only on the attitude of developers to their product: things like Punisher or Kane & Lynch 2 do not officially provide for the ability to activate the "adult mode", in Soldier of Fortune and Crimsonland, on the contrary, you can do this directly from the menu by going to the item: " Settings "->" Violence level ". Please note that when you turn off violence, you usually have to define a password in order to get everything back in place.

If the option to disable censorship is not included in the menu, then the user will have to install a special patch that corrects this oversight. You can find it on the game forums on the Internet, among the "amateur modifications"; installation instructions (usually limited to the line "copy files to the game folder with the replacement of the original files") is in the same place.
