The address of the corporate website has to be indicated in business cards, brochures, catalogs and other promotional items. Often, at the same time, annoying mistakes are made that can significantly lower the authority of the organization in the eyes of technically competent people.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to enter the URL of the corporate site into the address bar of your browser in two ways: with the www string and without it. For example: www.siteaddress.domainsiteaddress.domain Probably, the site will open only when you enter one of these options - and specify it in the advertising materials. If both options work (the most common case), specify the one that doesn't have www.
Step 2
There must be periods between domain names of all levels. It is a common mistake to include the "@" ("dog") sign instead of a period, which is completely unacceptable, because a URL is not an email address. For example, you can write siteaddress.domain, but you cannot write siteaddress @ domain.
Step 3
Specifying a fractional sign (slash) after the address is optional. It must necessarily be straight, that is, directed from the lower left to the upper right corner. The use of backslashes is not allowed - if your potential client types the address this way, it will not open in some browsers. An example of correct spelling looks like this: siteaddress.domain /
Step 4
Optionally, precede the URL with a string consisting of the following characters: the letters http, a colon, and two forward fractions (reverse are also not allowed). For example:
Step 5
Never use spaces in the address. If you are giving a direct link to a resource with a space in the name, specify it like this: http: /siteaddress.domain/folder/file%20name.html, where% 20 is the special code for the space.
Step 6
In the domain name itself, uppercase and lowercase letters are equivalent, but in the names of folders and files they are not. For example, there is no difference between the addresses siteaddress.domain and SITEADDRESS. DOMAIN, but if the path to a file named FiLe.htmL is further written in the FolDer folder, be sure to specify it like this: /FolDer/FiLe.htmL. According to established practice, Latin domain names are written in advertising materials in lowercase letters, and Cyrillic ones - in capital letters and without https://, for example:
