Multiple web browsers can be installed on one computer. The default browser will be the one in which all Internet pages are automatically opened when clicking on links. The user can choose the default browser by configuring the appropriate settings.
Instructions
Step 1
Internet Explorer is automatically installed with the Windows operating system. Until you install another application for the Internet, it will be considered the default browser.
Step 2
After you install any other browser, the first time you start it, you will be prompted to make the new browser the default browser. If this option suits you, just agree with it in the request window.
Step 3
In the event that you want to choose the default browser yourself (assign a new one or switch back from the new to the old one), you need to set the required parameters. To make Internet Explorer your default browser, launch it and select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
Step 4
Go to the "Programs" tab in the dialog box that opens. In the "Browser by default" group, click on the "Use as default" button. Use a marker to mark the box "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not used by default" and apply the new settings.
Step 5
To select Mozilla Firefox as the default browser, launch the browser and select Options from the Tools menu. A new dialog box will open, go to the "Advanced" tab. In the "System Preferences" group, check the box next to "Always check on startup if Firefox is the default browser".
Step 6
Click on the "Check Now" button. The program checks and prompts you to make Firefox your default browser. Accept the offer by answering yes in the request window. Save the changes by clicking on the OK button. The dialog box will close automatically.
Step 7
Similarly, you can make any browser your default browser. Look in the menu, and then in the browser settings for buttons and commands that are similar in meaning. Don't forget to apply your changes.
