Step 1
Find out which registrar supports your domain name. To do this, you can use the WHOIS service. Enter your domain name in the search bar. Find the line registrar in the output. Its value is the unique identifier of the domain registrar. Use a search engine to find the registrar's site by its unique identifier.
Step 2
Check the readiness of the domain recipient to use the services of the current domain registrar. If a transfer to another provider is required, it is best to complete the transfer before transferring the domain name. Otherwise, all of the following operations will have to be performed by the recipient of the domain. Enter into a domain name support agreement with a new provider. You will be given a username and password. With their help, enter the administration panel of the new provider. Transfer your domain name to a new provider. Now you can initiate the domain transfer procedure.
Step 3
The procedure for transferring a domain is fundamentally the same for all registrars. The main differences lie in the volume of requested document registrars, as well as the methods of their transmission (by regular or e-mail, through the web interface of the provider's client service). The registrar must ensure that the transferor is entitled to do so. As a result of the activities of scammers or hackers, the personal information of the domain owner can be stolen and then used to transfer control of the domain to third parties. To avoid such a situation, paper originals of documents are requested, by which it is possible to unambiguously determine the identity and intentions of the person transferring the domain.
Step 4
If the current owner of the domain is an individual, a notarized statement is a sufficient basis for transferring the domain. The original of the document must be sent by registered mail. An alternative option is to visit the registrar's office in person. To verify your identity, you must have a passport with you.
Step 5
If the domain owner is a legal entity, his representative must provide:
- a letter from the current domain administrator containing a request to transfer the domain;
- a letter from the future domain administrator confirming the consent to accept the domain;
- certificate of entry of a legal entity into the Unified State Register of Legal Entities;
- certificate of state registration of a legal entity;
- a copy of the order on the appointment of the general director of the company transferring the domain name.
