Domain transfer to hosting is a common task. Initially, the site may not be hosted on the Internet and may be tested on a local machine. There may be a situation in which the current hosting ceased to suit the site owner. The transition to the final stage of testing, an increase in the load or the volume of visitors - all this may cause the need to transfer the domain to a new hosting.
It is necessary
Access to the control panel of the current hosting, access to the administration panel of the new hosting, reliable access to the Internet, computer or laptop
Instructions
Step 1
First of all (if the domain is transferred from a local server where previously there was no Internet access), make sure that the target domain name is free for registration and register it.
Step 2
The main thing to do before any critical domain operations is a backup. It is necessary to copy all site files to local storage or to a new directory on the current server. In addition, you should definitely create a backup copy of the database if the site uses database tables for its work. In addition to the files of the site itself, you can also copy the configuration files of the current server or transfer their contents so as not to re-configure the target server.
Step 3
The next step in the domain transfer process will be to resolve formal issues. If the domain has already been registered with one of the registrars, then you will need to submit an application to the support service. In the application, you will need to express your desire to transfer the domain to the new registrar. The target registrar's support service should also be notified of your desire to transfer the domain for delegation to them. Detailed instructions for action on your part will be in response to your applications.
Step 4
After solving the formal issues, in the control panel of your domains of the new registrar, you will need to specify the DNS servers of the hosting company, where the site files with the domain name you are interested in will be located. On the target hosting, unpack the backup. Hosting settings will need to be performed in the same way as on the initial (local) hosting.
Step 5
The process of re-registering DNS servers can take from several hours to several days. In order for domain visitors to successfully go to the new address, you need to set up redirection from the old hosting.
