To be able to exchange information between two or more computers, they must be physically connected to a network wirelessly or wired, assigning each a unique address. The DHCP service allows you to do this.

Instructions

Step 1

Open any browser. Enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar, which is the default address for network devices. Make sure that the network cable is connected on one side to the network card of your computer, and on the other to the router.

Step 2

Try looking for the username and password in the documentation for the router if a message appears stating that the standard password is not accepted. Alternatively, find a small hole on the back with the inscription Reset and press the button inside with a long thin object. This will reset to factory settings and will be able to use the default password.

Step 3

Find a link to NetworkSettings or the LAN section. Different manufacturers provide their own names, but at least one version of the network must be mentioned. Use the mouse pointer to select the desired section and find a submenu that enables DHCP on the router, for example, DHCP settings or DHCP service.

Step 4

Check the Enable DHCP server checkbox. Below it are two fields where you need to specify the IP addresses that are valid for your network, for example, 192.167.0.2 - 192.169.0.4. This will allow you to limit the number of one-time users of Internet resources. Through a wireless router, you can specify only two addresses, for example, for your mobile phone and laptop, which is the easiest way to secure the connection.

Step 5

Select the field labeled GatewayAdress or DefaultGateway. Select the address for the network gateway (ip-address), which will become the "gateway" to the Internet for each of the connected computers. Most often it is the same as the router address: 192.167.0.2.

Step 6

Save the results by clicking on the Save button at the bottom of the page, and then clicking on the adjacent Save / Reboot button. This will reboot the router for the changes to take effect.
