Minecraft is not only a game for those who like to mine various materials or fight monsters. In it, many can feel like a little engineers, since they often have to craft various mechanisms. In certain cases, they need a gear - but they need to be created first.
Gears in BuildCraft
It is worth saying that the history of the existence of the gear in Minecraft was relatively short-lived. This item appeared in the Indev version, did not actually perform any functions and, in fact, only filled the inventory. In addition, the gears could not be destroyed. They only became invisible when the player destroyed the blocks in which they were attached.
Soon, the gear was more than replaced by a redstone, and the need for it in gameplay disappeared. Therefore, the developers removed such a useless item from the game. However, later it appeared - but already in various modifications of Minecraft, where it serves as a fairly popular resource.
In this regard, the BuildCraft mod is especially different, in which gears are one of the main parts of mechanisms. It provides for the craft of several of their types at once (and each has its own purpose). They vary in much the same way as picks or other tools, from wood to diamond.
The first of the above gears serves as the basis for all other types of such parts, as well as for crafting simple mechanisms such as an automatic workbench or an engine. It is made of four wooden sticks, which for this must be placed on the machine in the form of a diamond.
The stone gear is needed for crafting a Stirling engine, as well as for making a regular wrench. It is quite easy to create it, given the necessary components. You just need to put a wooden gear in the center of the workbench, and place four cobblestones at the bottom, top and sides of it.
By the way, other types of similar parts are made in the same way. The only difference will be in the materials used. In the central slot of the machine, that gear will have to be installed, which is slightly inferior in the degree of strength (for iron it is stone, for gold - iron, and for diamond - gold). Another required ingredient will be four units of the corresponding material - iron or gold ingots or diamonds.
An iron gear is needed for the construction of a drilling rig and an internal combustion engine, gold for aggregate, diamond for an oil refinery, builder, architect and assembly tables. In addition, all three types of such parts are involved in the crafting of a very useful mechanism - a career that performs all the work of extracting resources from the bowels for a gamer.
Applying and creating a gear in Forestry
However, the need for gears is not limited to BuildCraft. In another mod - Forestry, where many different automated devices for farms, beekeeping and energy extraction have been added, such an item is also used quite often.
Some of the gears in this mod are borrowed from BuildCraft because these software products - as well as Industrial Craft2 - are designed to be complementary. However, Forestry also has its own original crafting recipes, as well as options for using gears.
First of all, there is a copper piece of this type. It is used only in two devices - a peat motor and a humidifier. It is made from one ingredient - copper ingots. They are produced in the traditional way for such items - by melting the corresponding ore in a furnace. Five finished ingots must be placed on the workbench in the form of a cross, leaving only four corner cells free.
A tin gear is often used to craft various mechanisms, including a rainmaker, an electric motor, and an apiary. To create it, the ingots on the workbench are placed in the same way as described above, with the difference that one copper will go to the center, and four tin ones around it. The latter are smelted from the ore of this metal.
In addition, a so-called impregnated gear is available at Forestry. It is made in the same way as in BuildCraft a regular wooden one, but with the difference that in this case, four polished oak sticks are placed in the form of a diamond on the workbench. They are made from two blocks of wood with the addition of a tenth of a bucket of vegetable oil. Without an impregnated gear, it is impossible to craft block and panel carpenters, as well as a timber mill.
