In some cases, personal data and files on the wireless network may be seen by other users when the network signal is intercepted. Very often this leads to theft of confidential information, as well as to its further use. To avoid potential problems, use a network security key. It protects data from unauthorized access.
It is necessary
- - the Internet;
- - keyboard.
Instructions
Step 1
The security key is created using the Router Setup Wizard. There are three main types of encryption: Wi-Fi access (WPA and WPA2), Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), and 802.1x. Therefore, sometimes it becomes necessary to search for a security key. This is very easy to do. To find the security key on the Quick Access Toolbar, launch the Start menu and select Control Panel from the available list.
Step 2
After completing these steps, a window will open where you can change various settings for your computer settings. You must select the "Network and Internet" category. Then left-click on the "Network and Sharing Center" function.
Step 3
A window should open with basic information about the network and connection settings. It is required to select the item "Manage wireless networks". As a result, a list of all available wireless networks will appear on the monitor screen.
Step 4
Then right-click on the name of the wireless network for which you previously forgot the password.
Step 5
Click on the "Security" tab. A window with various functions should open. It is necessary to find the item "Display entered characters", and put a tick next to it. After a while, a security code will appear on the computer monitor.
Step 6
The key can contain not only letters of the Latin alphabet, but also numbers. This method is not used by chance, since such a combination of symbols is quite complex. This will protect your data from unauthorized access.
Step 7
You can use the key in two ways. You need to copy it into a special field for pasting or type it yourself on the keyboard. The first option is more effective, as it eliminates the possibility of a typo. As a result, it becomes possible to change a previously forgotten password.
