Each application is installed on the computer in a specific directory. To avoid opening different folders each time looking for launcher icons, it is easier to place shortcuts on them on the desktop. To create a shortcut to your internet connection, you need to take a few steps.
Instructions
Step 1
The icon for the Internet connection is located in the "My Network Places" folder. The shortcut to this folder is a standard element of the Windows desktop, usually it appears automatically after the system is installed. If you removed this shortcut, you can return it through the Display component.
Step 2
Click on the desktop with the right mouse button, select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. In the window that opens, go to the "Desktop" tab and click on the "Desktop settings" button. In the additional window go to the "General" tab and set the marker opposite the "Network Neighborhood" icon. Apply the new settings. If you do not want to place the "Network Neighborhood" shortcut on your desktop, click on the "Start" button and simply select "Network Neighborhood" from the menu.
Step 3
In the typical tasks pane on the left side of the window, select the "Display network connections" task. If you don't see a list of common tasks, choose Folder Options from the Tools menu to open a new dialog box. Go to the General tab and set the marker in the Display a list of common tasks in folders box. Apply the new settings and close the window.
Step 4
When all network connections are displayed, move the cursor to the "Local Area Connection" icon and right-click on it. In the drop-down menu, select "Send" and the sub-item "Desktop (create shortcut)". Alternatively, move the cursor to the Internet connection icon and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag it to the desktop.
Step 5
If you need quick access to an Internet connection, but do not want to place a shortcut on the desktop, place it on the Quick Launch bar on the taskbar (area to the right of the Start button). To do this, move the cursor to the icon and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag it to the taskbar.
Step 6
If you can't place an icon on the Quick Launch, make sure it's active and editable. Click on the taskbar with the right mouse button, in the drop-down menu select "Tools". A marker must be set in the "Quick Launch" submenu item.
