The number of wireless networks is constantly growing. In cafes, restaurants, cinemas, educational institutions - everywhere you can find a Wi-Fi signal. However, these networks are not always open to users. Traffic is often encrypted, and network logins are password protected.

Step 1
If the access point is located in a public place, the easiest way to obtain the wlan key is by asking the service personnel. The fact that a network is protected from free access does not mean that the owner prohibits its use. In many cafes and fast food restaurants, a password can be set so that the service is not used by customers of a neighboring establishment or residents of a building on the floor above. Wi-fi networks have limited bandwidth, and if everyone connects to the network indiscriminately, those for whom it is intended will not be able to use it.
Step 2
If you have access to a wireless router (for example, visiting a friend or girlfriend), you can see the wlan key in the router. To do this, go to the administrator panel of the router from a computer that is already connected to the wireless network, go to the settings tab. Find the field named key, write down or copy its contents. Enter this key in the device that you want to connect to wi-fi.
Step 3
If the password of the router is unknown, and there is no one nearby who could provide the wlan key, you can try to guess the key using special programs. The search can be carried out sequentially or using a dictionary. Password guessing can take a long time. Keep in mind that the owner of the network may regard the attempt to guess the key as a hacker attack and take countermeasures. For the foreseeable future, it is possible to crack only short WEP keys using the brute-force method. If the network is protected by a long WPA or PSK key, the value cannot be matched.
Step 4
The most difficult and unsafe way to find out the wlan key is hacking the wireless network. Use this method only if absolutely necessary. Keep in mind: Hacking computer networks is a criminal offense. Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to two years. Programs and information on hacking networks can be found on specialized sites and forums.
