The network address (also called the MAC address of a computer) can be found in several common ways. The easiest way, of course, is to find out the network address of a computer by looking at the sticker or packaging of the network card. In the case when we are dealing not with a computer, but with a laptop, it is necessary to pay attention to the bottom of the device - there should be a sticker on which the MAC address of all network interfaces is indicated. If there is no such sticker on the bottom of the laptop, it must be on its packaging. But what if the packaging or documentation for the network card has not been preserved?
You can use the ipconfig command. To do this, go to the Start menu and select Run, while entering the cmd command in the field. A black console window will open, in it you should type a command like ipconfig / all. After that, in the text that appears on the screen, look for "Local Area Connection" (Ethernet adapter). The string "Physical address" will represent the desired MAC address. If several different network cards are installed on one computer at once, there will also be several physical addresses in the list, one for each installed card. Therefore, you need to choose from the list the address of the card that interests you at the moment.
There is another way to determine the network address of a computer, which is considered not the most effective, but at the same time, very popular and widespread. It consists in using two commands - ping and arp. In this case, the ping target command is executed first, followed by the arp – a command. After executing such a command, a table will appear on the screen. It will contain the MAC address of the adapter you are interested in. This method is most often used in a regular peer-to-peer network. The fact is that if the network is divided into segments and uses routers, you will not be able to find out the MAC address of the computer (you will only be able to find out the network address of the router itself).
