A network address is a unique combination of numbers by which a computer is recognized on a local network or the Internet. If the PC is connected to the Internet via a server or acts as a server itself, then these values will differ. There are several ways to find the IP address.
Instructions
Step 1
Study the user agreement with your provider or visit your personal account on their website. If you are connected to the Internet with a static IP address, then its value must be specified in the terms of the contract. In the case of a dynamic IP address, these parameters may change, so you need to use other methods to determine the network address.
Step 2
Click on the network icon in the system tray of the taskbar. Select "Network or Sharing Center". You can also get to this section through the "Start" - "Control Panel" menu. Click on the link "Changes to adapter settings". Select the network connection for which you want to define an IP address. Right-click on its shortcut and select "Status". Open the "Details" tab. Your computer's network address is in the "IPv4 Address" line. If your computer acts as a server, its IP address in the local network will be indicated in the line "IPv4 DNS servers".
Step 3
Open the properties of the network connection. Highlight the "Internet Protocol TCP / Pv4" section and click the "Properties" button. If the computer has a static network address, then it will be indicated in the corresponding line.
Step 4
Use the services of special sites to determine the IP address of your computer. There are a lot of these resources now. It is enough to enter the query "find a network address" in the search engine and select any link you like. Remember that the IP-address should be issued automatically by the site without asking for passwords, e-mail and other data about you.
Step 5
Go to the command line console. To do this, call the "Run" command in the "Start" menu and specify cmd in it. Click the Open button or press Enter. Enter the ipconfig command in the window that opens and press Enter to get the current network address of your PC.
