Wireless hotspots can be found wherever there is an internet connection. You can connect a mobile computer to almost any wireless network if the device is equipped with a built-in or external Wi-Fi adapter.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on your mobile computer and wait for the operating system to load. Check the activity of the built-in Wi-Fi adapter. Open the Device Manager menu. To do this, go to the properties of the item "My Computer" and select the desired menu.
Step 2
In the list of "Network adapters", find the device that is designed to work with a wireless network. Click on its name with the right mouse button. In the menu that appears, select the "Enable" item.
Step 3
If you want to connect to a public network, then reset the Wi-Fi adapter settings. Open Control Panel and select the "Network and Sharing Center" menu. To display a list of network connections, select "Change adapter settings". Right click on the wireless icon. Select Properties.
Step 4
Open the settings for the Internet Protocol TCP / IP (v4). Activate the use of a dynamic IP address. Select Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically. Save the settings.
Step 5
After resetting the adapter parameters, click on the network connections icon located in the system tray. Select the desired wireless network. Click the "Connect" button. Wait until the connection with the selected access point is established. Wait a while until the device gives your Wi-Fi adapter the required IP address.
Step 6
If you want to connect desktops to a wireless network, use a Wi-Fi router. Open the settings of this equipment and connect to the desired Wi-Fi network. Connect the router to computers with network cables. To do this, use the LAN ports located on the device body.
