Twitter (Twitter) - a system that allows Internet users to send each other short text notes using sms, web interface, instant messaging, as well as third-party client programs. The public availability of posted posts makes it akin to blogs.
The microblogging service Twitter suddenly became inaccessible to most Internet users on June 21, 2012, at 20:00 Moscow time. Access problems have been confirmed by Downforeveryoneorjustme and Host-Tracker. The latter showed that out of 40 servers located in different cities of the world, only two were able to ping the Twitter resource. Russian Internet users have also lost access to the resource.
As it turned out later, the cause of the service disruption was an error in one of the infrastructure links. It affected other parts of the system (in particular, the cascaded bud), which caused such a long (more than two hours) crash. This information appeared on the official Twitter microblog on June 22.
Shortly before the official explanation of the problems in the work of the resource, the group of hackers UGNazi tried to take full responsibility for what happened. They reported about a series of DDoS attacks allegedly carried out on the service, as a result of which Twitter "fell". The UGNazi group gained notoriety after its members hacked into the Google account of Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudfare.
After the recovery of Twitter, a parody account called "@CascadedBug" appeared almost immediately. Despite the quick blocking of this account by the administration of the resource, the discussion of the "bug that broke Twitter" managed to spread widely on the network.
Twitter was founded in March 2006. Today its audience exceeds 200 million users. The resource has been criticized more than once for its unstable work. The problem was caused by the rapidly growing number of user postings. Over the past few years, the Twitter administration has taken a number of measures to stabilize its work as much as possible.
