Granting full rights to a selected registry key allows the user to perform any action on this registry item and its subkeys, including deleting subkeys, creating new keys, changing the names and values of parameters.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button to bring up the main system menu and go to Run to launch the command line tool.
Step 2
Enter regedit in the Open field and click OK to confirm the command.
Step 3
Click on the branch, key or subkey of the registry to open access, and select the "Permissions" command from the "Security" menu.
Step 4
Specify the user to whom you want to grant access to the registry key in the "Group or usernames" field and apply the checkbox to the "Allow" field opposite the "Full Control" or "Read Only" item in the "Permissions for name" list, where "name" is the name of the previously selected user.
Step 5
Click the Advanced button to open the Access Control Settings menu, which allows you to set more granular permissions for individual users or groups, enable auditing, and change the owner of the selected registry key.
Step 6
Highlight the required line in the Permission Items list and click the Show / Change button to select the required permissions for the selected user.
Step 7
Use the Query Value item to grant read access to meaningful items from a registry key.
Step 8
Select Set Value to grant the right to modify meaningful items in the registry key.
Step 9
Specify the Create Subkey item to grant the right to create subkeys in the selected registry key.
Step 10
Use the checkbox next to Enumerate Subkeys to grant the right to identify subkeys of the selected registry key.
Step 11
Use the Notification item to grant the right to set auditing on registry keys.
Step 12
Select Create Link to grant the right to create symbolic links in a specific registry subkey.
Step 13
Specify Delete to grant the right to delete the highlighted registry.
Step 14
Apply the checkbox to the "DAC Entry" field to grant access rights to the section and modify the "Access Control List".
Step 15
Use the Change Owner element to grant the right to assign owner rights to this section.
Step 16
Select Read Permissions to grant the right to view the security settings for the selected partition.
