Modern technologies allow even stationary computers to be connected to wireless Wi-Fi access points. Unfortunately, this requires certain hardware.
It is necessary
- - Wi-Fi router;
- - 2 Wi-Fi adapters.
Instructions
Step 1
If you decide to create your own wireless network, then you need a Wi-Fi router. To connect stationary computers to a Wi-Fi network, it is recommended to use Wi-Fi adapters. These devices are of two types: external and internal. Purchase two adapters and a router.
Step 2
Connect the Wi-Fi router to a power outlet. Connect an Internet cable to the WAN (Internet, DSL) port of this equipment. Connect one of the computers to the LAN (Ethernet) port using a network cable for this connection.
Step 3
Open the instructions for the Wi-Fi router and find the initial IP address of the device in it. If you do not have instructions, then visit the official website of the manufacturer of this router model and find out this value there.
Step 4
Turn on the computer connected to the Wi-Fi router. Open the browser and enter the device IP into its address bar to enter the settings menu.
Step 5
Open the WAN (Network Setting) menu. Change the options for this menu. When entering the required values, use the advice of the provider's technical support.
Step 6
Open the Wireless Settings menu. Create a Wi-Fi hotspot by entering its name (SSID), password (password) and specifying the types of security and radio channel. Save the changed settings. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
Step 7
Connect the Wi-Fi adapter to the second computer. Install software and drivers for this hardware. Activate the search for wireless networks. Connect to the hotspot you created.
Step 8
Disconnect the first computer from the router. Repeat the algorithm described in the previous step to configure this computer.
