If the computer is connected to a local network or has a static IP address, then the user can open network access to his resources. To do this, you first need to configure the security system to protect information from unauthorized access, and only then allow access to folders and disks.
Instructions
Step 1
Configure your operating system to provide LAN access. Many people think that it is enough to turn off the firewall, turn on the "Guest" function and allow him access. In this way, of course, you will provide an opportunity to use your documents from other computers, but there is no protection against intruders who can delete or damage important data.
Step 2
Go to the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel" section. After that, go to the firewall properties and check the "File and Printer Sharing" box. As a result, you will open access to UDP ports 137-138 and TCP 139, 445. As a rule, this function is enabled automatically, but it is better to perform it yourself in order to further exclude the firewall policy from possible errors.
Step 3
Go to the "Add or Remove Programs" section, select "Windows Components" and go to "Network Services". Click the "Contents" button and check the "Peer-to-Peer" box to have the operating system search the network for shared printers and folders by default. After that, open the properties of the network connection and check that the "File and Printer Sharing Service" is active. Thus, you exclude all possible errors when allowing network access to your resources.
Step 4
Select the folder you want to share. Remember that you can only upload folders or disks to the network. It is not recommended to open access to the latter if you are not sure about the users of your local network. Right click on the folder you want to open.
Step 5
Select Properties. Go to the "Access" tab in the window that opens. Click on the Share button. Select a username from the drop-down menu and click the Add button. In the column "Permission level" you can set access parameters. Click the Share button and confirm the operation.
