Step 1
Let's consider a situation in which we have a local network created using a network hub. Our goal is to provide all computers and laptops included in the local network with Internet access.
Step 2
You should start by choosing the most powerful computer. In this scheme of building a local network, it will act as a router. A prerequisite for this computer is that it must have at least two network adapters.
Step 3
Connect all computers on the LAN to the network switch, including your host computer. Turn them on.
Step 4
Connect an internet cable to your makeshift router. Set up a connection with the provider's server and make sure you have access to the Internet. Go to the properties of this connection. Select the "Access" tab. Look for "Allow other network users to use this computer's Internet connection." Check the box next to it. Specify the local network for which you want to share.
Step 5
Open the properties of the second network adapter (which is connected to the hub). Set it to a static (permanent) IP, the value of which will be 192.168.0.1.
Step 6
Open a similar settings item on any other computer. Replace the last digit by entering the IP address for this device. Find the "Default Gateway" and "Preferred DNS Server" items. Fill them in with the IP address of the first computer.
Step 7
Repeat the procedure described in the previous step, setting up all other laptops or computers on the network. Restart the host computer to apply the changed sharing settings. Please note that this computer must be turned on even when you want to access the Internet even from other equipment.
