Step 1
To ensure the safe operation of the entire system as a whole, it is recommended to use the Windows Firewall built into the operating system or to use special software, for example, Kaspersky Internet Security. This package includes the Firewall application, with its help you can monitor the operation of selected applications and, if desired, restrict the rights.
Step 2
Run the program, if you have not already done so, and open the main window by clicking on the antivirus complex icon in the system tray next to the clock. Click the "Settings" button, which is located on the right side of the window. You will see the "Program Settings" applet. Go to the "Protection Center" tab and click on the "Firewall" application icon.
Step 3
Then open the Application Rules tab and select a utility or software package whose Internet access you want to restrict. Click on the "Change" button and in the window that opens, go to the "Network rules" tab. Then click the Add button. In the applet of the displayed running processes, select the line with the blocked program and click the "OK" button.
Step 4
In the window that appears, go to the "Action" section and click the "Block" button. Then go to the Title section and check the Web-Browsing box. To record the program's attempts to a special report file, you must activate the "Write to report" option. Click the OK button to close the current window.
Step 5
In the "Network Rules" window, you will see the program (rule) you have recently added, which is marked with the "Deny" flag. To close all open windows, click OK several times. Then start the blocked program, activate the update option - this operation will be automatically interrupted.
