Internet security today is a recognized necessity. Quite often it is required to introduce restriction of user access to a site or even several sites. This issue becomes especially important if a child uses a computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Block access to inappropriate sites through Internet Explorer. Run the application and go to the "Service" menu. Click "Internet Options". Go to the "Privacy" tab and click on "Sites". Enter in the appropriate field the address of the site to which you want to block access, and click "Block". Save the settings by clicking "OK".
Step 2
Block access to the site through the Opera browser, if you are using it by default. Open the app. Enter the "Settings" menu and go to the "Advanced" tab. On the left side of the window, select Contents. Press the "Add" button and enter the URL of the desired site to block it. Close the menu and restart your browser.
Step 3
Block access to the unwanted site through the Mozilla Firefox browser. This application allows you to block sites using special add-ons. One of the more user-friendly plugins is LeechBlock. With Firefox open, go to the Tools menu, click Add-ons and launch LeechBlock. Click Add to Firefox. Select Install Now. Restart Firefox after installation is complete. Further, through the plugin settings menu, you can block access to unwanted sites. It is also convenient in that, in addition to completely blocking the site, it allows you to select certain days of the week and even hours during which access will be limited.
Step 4
Try to block access to the site for all browsers installed on your computer at once. From the Start menu, start the Command Prompt service. Enter the following command: notepad C: / Windows / System32 / drivers / etc / hosts. Find the line 127.0.0.1 localhost in the file that opens. Replace localhost with the address of any website to block it. Save your changes by closing Command Prompt and Notepad.
